The geometry and the frequency
A trine is a third of the circle, and the orb used here is seven degrees. Since Neptune shifts only about two degrees a year, Venus makes both trines to it on its way round, once ahead of Neptune and once behind, so the aspect forms twice a year.
At a little over a degree a day, Venus takes around a fortnight to cross a fourteen degree band, which means roughly a month of the year produces this aspect. That is a large cohort. Anyone telling you a trine to an outer planet marks you out has skipped the arithmetic.

Venus governs taste, affection and what you value. Neptune governs the dissolving of hard edges, imagination and empathy that does not stop at the boundary of the self. It is also worth separating what the trine supplies from what it does not. It supplies receptivity, not judgement. Knowing that a piece of music or a person is affecting you is a different skill from working out whether the effect is trustworthy, and this aspect only hands you the first.
The other thing to check is whether anything personal picks up the trine. A Moon or an angle at those degrees makes it part of a temperament. Without that, a trine to a planet the whole cohort shares is background, and the honest reading says so.

The tradition reads trines as easy rather than lucky, and the difference matters. Nothing is promised by the geometry. What it describes is a lack of internal resistance between taste and imagination, which is only an advantage if something else in the chart puts it to use.

Venus forms both trines to Neptune in the course of a year, and each one holds the seven degree orb for around a fortnight. That makes it one of the more frequent outer planet contacts rather than a distinguishing feature.
